CLT Summit 2025: Gaining Ground in Halifax

Three members of our co-op attended the 2025 Community Land Trust (CLT) Summit in Halifax from September 11–13, joining changemakers from across Canada to explore land justice, community resilience, and housing innovation.

This year’s theme, “Gaining Ground,” reflected the rapid growth of CLTs nationwide.

The summit featured powerful keynote speakers, practitioner labs, and field visits to African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaq sites of resilience. Highlights included:

• Centring Indigenous and Black land stewardship

• Scaling co-operative and affordable housing solutions

• Celebrating community through art, storytelling, and joy

• Truth-telling about systemic inequities in housing and land access

Our board is bringing back key insights to strengthen our co-op, including the importance of diverse voices in leadership and decision-making.
